About the project

This case study presents the full UX/UI design and development process behind Nud Studio a creative agency based in Thessaloniki, Greece. The goal was to create a digital presence that reflects the agency’s creative direction, attracts clients with higher design budgets and distinguishes it from its sister company, iServices, which focuses mainly on web and app development.

The problem

The main iServices website emphasizes technology and development but doesn’t communicate creative expertise. Nud Studio needed its own space one that represents design craftsmanship, individuality, and artistic clarity.

The goals

Build a modern, minimal, and interactive website that feels premium without overusing animation. Avoid the clutter and fatigue found in competitor sites while keeping the interface visually engaging and functional.

Responsibilities

User research, competitive analysis, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, UI design, GSAP animation setup, WordPress and Elementor Pro development, testing and performance optimization.

Understanding the Users

User research focused on business owners, marketing professionals, and creative directors looking for design services in Greece primarily in Thessaloniki but also in other regions. The research aimed to understand how these users choose creative partners and what frustrates them about agency websites.

Interviews were prepared by the lead designer and conducted by two junior UX designers. A mix of inperson and online interviews revealed recurring patterns about clarity, structure, and professionalism.

User Research Summary

Methods included competitor analysis, desk research, and eight qualitative interviews. The assumption was that potential clients prefer highly animated, visually complex websites. However, findings showed the opposite clients valued clarity, fast loading, and concise presentation of services. This led to a balanced design approach where animations add character but never distract from the content.

User Research Pain Points

  1. Overly complex animations caused user fatigue → Focused on purposeful transitions and smooth motion only where needed.
  2. Service sections on competitor sites were unclear → Structured Nud Studio’s services into concise, scannable segments with clear outcomes.
  3. Performance issues on visual-heavy sites → Optimized GSAP and media to maintain high performance and load speed.
  4. Generic layouts reduced trust → Developed a distinct grid, typography pairing, and layout flow to differentiate Nud Studio.

User Journey map

The user journey map focuses on the first visit to the site from discovering Nud Studio through search or social media, exploring services and projects, to contacting the team. The design ensures a fast, easy flow through the journey while keeping visual engagement.

Starting the Design — Low-Fidelity Wireframes

Wireframes established the homepage flow: minimal hero section, short about text, clear service blocks, project gallery, and contact form. The aim was to give each section space while keeping the layout connected visually.

Low-Fidelity Prototype

A low-fidelity prototype tested navigation clarity and content hierarchy. The prototype connected homepage → services → contact, allowing quick validation before UI design.

Usability Study: Findings

Two usability testing rounds were conducted with eight participants. Sessions focused on clarity, motion comfort, and how quickly users could find the contact section.

Round 1 Findings

  1. Users needed clearer, more direct service descriptions.
  2. The contact button was too low on the page.
  3. Mobile animations distracted from reading.

Round 2 Findings

  1. Increasing text contrast improved readability.
  2. Moving the CTA higher increased conversion actions.
  3. Reducing motion intensity made scrolling more natural.

High-Fidelity Prototype

The high-fidelity prototype represents the final live version of nudstudio.co. It combines refined micro-interactions, accessible contrast, and fast performance. Developed with WordPress and Elementor Pro, with custom GSAP animation scripting.

Accessibility Considerations

  1. High color contrast ratios to ensure text visibility in all lighting conditions.
  2. Reduced and controlled animation speed to prevent motion discomfort.
  3. Semantic heading hierarchy for screen readers and better tab navigation.

Going Forward — Takeaways & Impact

The new website successfully differentiated Nud Studio from iServices. It communicates creativity with simplicity, leading to increased engagement and inquiries from higher-value clients.

Key learning: Combining minimalism with motion requires restraint. Every effect must support readability and brand tone rather than just decoration.

Next Steps

The next steps include integrating a blog for insights and case studies, expanding the portfolio section, and adding multilingual support for international visibility. Performance monitoring and accessibility improvements will continue as the site evolves.
