CorfuBee is a transportation service based in Corfu, Greece, that allows customers to book transfers from specific locations, such as the airport, ports or hotels to their desired destination.

Project's brief & challenges

CorfuBee
tools and software in use

Key Issues

  • Booking via PDFs and WhatsApp: Drivers and admins were handling bookings manually via email attachments, WhatsApp messages,or printed schedules increasing the risk of human error and miscommunication.

  • No Synchronization Between Stakeholders: Drivers had to call admins to get route changes or customer details, while tourists remained uninformed about delays or schedule updates.

  • Inconsistent Multilingual Support: Tourists received booking confirmations in Greek or broken English, leading to confusion and mistrust.

  • No Route Optimization or Shift Continuity: When a driver finished one ride, there was no automatic visibility into their next assignment, leading to idle time and inefficient resource use.

  • Tourist Anxiety During Arrival: Tourists arriving at night or during peak season lacked visibility into driver status, often waiting without knowing if their pickup was confirmed or delayed.

Project Goals

  • Design a mobile app tailored for tourists to book, confirm and track transfers in a few taps.

  • Provide real-time location tracking and live status updates to reduce uncertainty and build trust.

  • Empower administrators with tools for bulk booking management, driver assignment and live route monitoring.

  • Reflect the island’s charm through a modern, calming and polished interface.

Market Context

Corfu is a major tourism destination, drawing over 1.6 million visitors each year, with 65% relying on ground transfers between airports, ports and hotels. As the demand for independent travel rises, so does the expectation for smart, mobile-first booking solutions.

  •  78% of travelers now prefer apps over phone-based bookings or hotel reception assistance.
  • Competitor apps analyzed lacked real-time tracking, multilingual UX or presented friction heavy booking flows.

  • Seasonal surges and unpredictable ferry/flight arrivals further emphasize the need for flexible, connected systems.

User Personas

Interview Insights

  • Tourists: Wanted fast booking, real-time updates and confirmations in multiple languages.

  • Drivers: Asked for an app that wouldn’t distract them, with simple tap based actions and route continuity.

  • Admins: Emphasized the need for bulk import (especially during tour group season) and real-time monitoring to reassign drivers when delays occur.

CorfuBee

Outcome of the project's redesign

  • Delivered a fully designed, stakeholder-centered UX/UI system.

  • Established a clear design system with reusable components across mobile and desktop.

  • Stakeholder feedback has been 95% positive during prototyping sessions.

  • Expected to reduce manual coordination by 40%, cut tourist wait times by up to 45% and improve operational clarity across the board.
